State Futsal Teams

THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF YOUTH FUTSAL IN THE COUNTRY

  • Premiere futsal training -- the best futsal players and the best futsal coaches
  • Designed to promote the sport, increase quality and create a national team player pool
  • Players will be seen and scouted by US National Futsal Team coach Keith Tozer and staff as well as former national team players
  • Coach Tozer will visit Massachusetts Jan. 7-8 to train state teams
  • Teams will compete at Northeast Regional Futsal Championships (included)
  • Teams may represent Massachusetts at National Championship tournament in Kansas City in Feb. 2012, competing in elite bracket against other state and regional teams (not included, to be determined by results of regional tournament)
  • Opportunity for the highest level of long-term futsal development
  • Participation fees include a full Joma kit, 10 training sessions and regional tournament expenses
  • Operating under the full guidance and support of both US Soccer and US Youth Futsal

Tryouts for 2011-12 have concluded.

PROGRAM DETAILS

  • Duality -- Players whose club or other teams enter the regional tournament are eligible to participate on both teams, though in the event of a conflict must play on the state team
  • Kits --Will be provided by Joma USA
  • Program Costs -- Per player cost is $375 -- includes 10 training sessions, 2 friendlies, regional tournament, full Joma kit and all coaching and insurance -- futsal shoes and balls not included but available at additional discounts

  • Registration -- no pre-registration or sign-up fee is necessary
  • Rosters -- Each age group will include between 9-12 players
  • Staff -- Head coach information below; Administrator - Jason Miller, Massachusetts Futsal Association
  • Training -- Begins first week of December and runs through second week of March (10 sessions)
  • Tryouts -- Will take place Nov. 11 and 13, 2011 at Fessenden School. Details above.
  • What to bring to tryouts -- water bottle, futsal ball (if you have one), change of footwear for inside the facility

HEAD COACHES

Soorena Farboodmanesh, U14 boys and U16 boys

Soorena won a National Championship in 2009 while at the helm of the Brookline Warriors BU18 team. Although best known for his role as referee and Director of Officials, Soorena is an experienced futsal tactician dating back to his early days in Iran, one of the world's top futsal countries. Coach Bood currently coaches with Pink Ladies Futsal Club, Boston Latin School and Jamaica Plain Youth Soccer. He holds a USSF National D license.

Jeff Lamy, U14 girls and U16 girls

Jeff is the 2010 Massachusetts Futsal Association Girls Coach of the Year and the new director of the MFA youth academy program. A long-time coach and academy director with PASA FC, Jeff has guided his girls to back-to-back U14 Northeast Regional Futsal Championships. Jeff played collegiately at UMass Lowell and the University of New Haven and is the boys varsity soccer coach at Methuen High SChool. He holds an NSCAA Advanced National Diploma.

John Montanaro, U10 boys and U12 boys

John guided the FC Black Knights to the 2011 BU14 National Championship after having reached the U13 finals in 2010. He has guided his futsal club to numerous league, state and regional titles between 2005-11 and was recognized as the 2011 Massachusetts Futsal Association Boys Coach of the Year. John learned his skills on the streets of Italy before further developing in Toronto and at Div. I Marist College, where he served as goalkeeper prior to being drafted by an NASL team. His coaching credits also include Philips Academy, Hotchkiss, Belmont Hill and Valeo SC.
